The paid version allows creating unlimited number of points, lines and polygons, exporting and importing layers even in GeoJSON and ESRI Shapefile formats as well as backing up and restoring the entire application database. In the free is possible to add a maximum of 50 elements per layer.
At this time, the application is only available for devices with Android OS version 5.0 and higher.
Only devices with android version 5.0 or later are supported. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t be able to offer some functionality for a version less than 5.0.
The language version of the app changes with the language setting on Android. For Czech and Slovak is the application in Czech. For other languages the application is in English.
The data you measure is purely yours (on your device or Google Drive), the data is not collected or analyzed by us.
Application breakdowns and usage functions are recorded. However, the data is anonymized and usable as a summary of all installations.
The first time you run the app, you need to have an internet connection so Gisella can sign into Google’s background maps. Consequently, the Internet connection is no longer necessary.
The easiest way is to watch the available video tutorials on Youtube or use the application guide, which can be activated in Gisella’s settings.
Topographic, road, hybrid, and aerial images from Google can be used as a background map.
It is not yet possible in the current version. But we are preparing this option in a future update.
Yes. Only the base maps are dependent on the Internet, but they are stored in a temporary multi-day memory when once loaded. So, for example, when you have a WiFi connection, you can load map tiles (by viewing the area of interest) and then work in the field without an Internet connection.
Gisella allows to measure point, line and polygon elements. Lines and polygons can be created manually or by walking.
In terms of functionality, this is not possible and is not common for GIS applications.
Yes, I can have several active layers of my own and added ones too (cadastre of real estates etc.) and switch between them.
Yes, you can define enumeration types in the application that are then assigned to attributes. They are unique to each layer.
Points and vertices can be targeted using the position of your device where accuracy depends on your device (accuracy can be increased by an external antenna up to centimeter accuracy). Alternatively, you can enter points manually by inserting them into the base map. In this case, the accuracy of the focus point correlates with the accuracy of the base map (eg aerial image).
Positioning accuracy is given by the device itself (phone, tablet) and its technical capabilities. Positioning accuracy is affected by the quality of the GPS chip, the visibility of the satellites, or the presence of WiFi or Bluetooth devices that can make the location more accurate.
Yes. The route can be recorded manually by creating a line or walking. In the second case, you can select the time interval of the route drawing from 5 to 155 s.
It is not. The data is saved by itself when created or edited.
The application supports GeoJSON, KML and Esri Shapefile. It excels in collaboration with desktop software QGIS, ArcGIS, WEGAS and many others.
You can export the data to the device itself, or upload it to Google Drive and then work with it comfortably. Data import works the same as export, either from the device itself or from Google Drive.
Please check the amount of free space on your device (or Google Drive). If the application does not have enough space to export the data, the process will automatically stop. Photos can take up a relatively large amount of memory – depending on the set photo quality and possibly photo compression directly in the application.
The data itself usually occupies a size in hundreds of KB to MB. The overall size of the application mainly reflects the recorded multimedia – photos, videos and sounds. The size of the photos depends on the set quality. Image quality can be changed directly in the application settings.
Data can be processed in a wide range of GIS programs such as ArcGIS, QGIS, WEGAS and others. You can also easily work with data in Google My Maps by exporting KML data and sharing it on Google Drive.
Currently, the name of the exported photo consists of the date and time (hours, minutes, seconds) when the photo was taken. Attached photos to the element are then listed in the exported file (KML, GeoJSON, SHP) in the attribute „Multimedia“. In case of multiple photos at one attribute, the photo names are separated by a comma. It is similar also for other multimedia (video and audio).
